An Intimate Lakeside Wedding at Canada Lake Lodge | Rachel & Ellis

Tucked away in the quiet countryside just outside Cardiff, Canada Lake Lodge was the beautifully peaceful setting for Rachel & Ellis’ small, heartfelt wedding. With only their closest loved ones present and the day unfolding over just a few hours, it was the perfect blend of intimacy, nature, and genuine emotion — a dream for both photo and film.

A Gentle Start to the Day

Rachel spent the morning at Parkgate Hotel overlooking the awe-inspiring Principality Stadium. The morning prep moments were quiet and warm — soft light poured through the windows, and the calm anticipation in the air was palpable. Her lace-detailed gown was simple and timeless, and she glowed with quiet joy.

Whilst we waiting for the celebrant who was unfortunately stuck in traffic on route to the ceremony, we took it as an opportunity for filming on the balcony with the bride, with a bottle of champagne in hand, which she decided to spray over the balcony in an amazing moment of pure elation allowing for some amazing footage!

The Ceremony: Small, Personal, Beautiful

Their ceremony was held inside the lodge, overlooking the water. With only a few guests gathered, the atmosphere felt deeply personal. There were no elaborate decorations — just soft natural light, a few delicate florals, and the sound of the lake in the background.

It was a space filled with emotion, and the way Rachel and Ellis looked at each other as they exchanged vows was everything. Moments like this are what make wedding films so powerful — nothing staged, just pure connection.

Portraits & Quiet Moments by the Water

After the ceremony, we stepped outside while guests enjoyed a drink on the terrace whilst the lake provided a perfect spot for a few natural portraits. The breeze, the stillness of the lake, and the way they held each other — it all came together effortlessly.

The videography here focused on movement and mood: soft footsteps, gentle laughter, the ripple of water. Simple, authentic, and full of heart.

A Short Celebration, Full of Love

For a half-day wedding, every moment mattered — and capturing those fleeting details on video was a real privilege.

Favourite Elements:

  • Venue: Canada Lake Lodge, Cardiff

  • Guest List: Intimate and close-knit

  • Vibe: Simple, serene, and full of feeling

  • Videography Style: Documentary, emotional, natural light

Final Thoughts

Rachel & Ellis chose a wedding that truly reflected them — intimate, meaningful, and completely theirs. Canada Lake Lodge offered the perfect peaceful backdrop, and capturing it all through film felt like telling a love story exactly as it was — quiet, honest, and beautifully real.

If you're planning an intimate wedding in Cardiff (or anywhere) and want videography that feels personal and cinematic, I’d love to be part of your story.
